5 TIPS HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY BLOG WHILE WORKING FULL-TIME
When talking to people what I’m doing in life, they often look at me surprised and say: “Wow, how do you manage to do all these things at the same time?”. That’s something I often ask myself too haha..kidding.
But indeed working fulltime and blogging/instagramming and cultivate a social lifet can be quite stressful sometimes.
But with the right mindset and intrinsic motivation everything is possible. Below I listed 5 tips on how to successfully blog while working full-time.
1. OVERVIEW AND PRIORITIZATION
With 100 things going on at the same time it’s essential to keep the overview. I do that with “To-do-lists”, of which I write almost every day a new one. Writing everything down helps me to keep the overview and to more easily priories the tasks. Mostly I’m running three lists at the same time: Work to do’s, blog/Instagram to do’s and general to do’s. I might seem a bit weird, but I tell you it’s really helpful. I used to write my lists on post-it-notes, but lately I’m working with the wonderlist app.
2. USE THE LUNCH BREAKS AND WEEKENDS FOR BLOG/INSTAGRAM WORK
During the week it often is not much time left to create and write content for the blog and social media, that’s why I almost do all the work on the weekends. In the evening I’m often tired and exhausted of the work day and need a break with the gym or Yoga. Fortunately my sister just started to work in the same PR agency as me, that means we often shoot outfits during the lunch break, what leaves more time on the weekends.
3. LOVE WHAT YOU DO AND YOU WILL NEVER WORK A DAY IN YOUR LIFE
Ok that’s probably easier said than done, but what I actually mean is: You must really love blogging and the content creation for Instagram, otherwise the amount of work will suck you up. During my job and blog career I met a lot of people telling me: “I should also start blogging in order to make money and get free products as you do.” I always get annoyed by such extrinsic motivation based statements, since I think it’s not the right approach to be successful.
4. CULTIVATE YOUR SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT
That’s not only related to the topic of the article, but in general. Being an adult is pretty busy and the free time we get is little. Sometimes I find myself spending my little free time with people I actually don’t really like, in conversation I’m not interested in for reasons I don’t know. At some point I started to ask myself, why am I doing that? Spending time with people, who kind of suck out the energy of me. Maybe it’s because I don’t want to appear antisocial, but I decided to dedicate the time I have to people I really like and to rather spend a Friday night with Pizza and Netflix than with people I don’t’ want to. You will see by cultivating your social environment carefully you will get a lot of free time, which can be invested in for example blogging time.
5. BREAKS TO MAINTAIN THE MENTAL BALANCE
Working full time and blogging AND cultivate a social life is physically and mentally exhausting. It’s super important to take some time for ourselves in order to recharge our batteries. How we recharge them is very individual and not every person needs the same, but for me it’s important to have some “me-time” by doing Yoga or going to the gym.
Are you also a full-time worker and blogger? Let me know, if you have other tips to maintain the balance.
